20 and 21
The trial was coming to an end ,when Atticus made his closing speech to the people. Atticus tells everyone how black people are just like everyone else, and should be treated just the same because anyone's skin color doesn't define them as a person. He ended the trial with that impacting speech. then goes further on to say not all blacks are criminals. This is when I realized how much Atticus cares about this trial and stopping discrimination.
When the trial ended Calpurnia came into the courtroom. She handed Atticus a note. That's when I realized what that note had said once Atticus looked up at us sitting in the balcony. He didn't want us to witness this trial because it was to grown up for us. Then Calpurnia took us home to have dinner. We begged and begged to stay because we wanted to hear the verdict of the trial. But Calpurnia said we could come back when we were finished with our dinner.
